Artist Interview #3: Patrick Hardy

We recently sent over 7 quick questions to one of the most popular threaders alive, Patrick Hardy. Check out his insights below!

  1. What is your real name if it’s not your stage name? If you have a stage name, what was the inspiration behind it? My real name is patrick shay. I go by patrick hardy as my artist name. hardy is my mom’s maiden name. No real inspiration behind it, I just thought it sounded better as an artist name!

  2. How old were you when you started pursuing music more “seriously”? I started pursuing music ‘seriously’ as producer/session player when I was around 21 or 22 and have worked my way towards making a decent career out of it. I started pursuing my own artist project a bit more seriously in 2022 but really started actually making moves in 2023 at the ripe old age of 31.

  3. Favorite genre other than the one you prefer to make music in? My fav genre outside of what I make is hip hop, mostly artists like MF Doom, J Dilla, Czarface, Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, etc.

  4. Where are you from? Does that influence your sound? I’m from southern Ontario, Canada near the GTA. It definitely influences my sound as growing up and going to college there, pop punk/emo/hardcore scenes were pretty active and playing in bands and going to shows was a huge part of shaping the kind of music I wanted to make.

  5. Who is the biggest non-musical influence on your art? My biggest non-musical influence is probably Margaret Atwood, a writer. I’ve read so many of her books and always been really inspired but here style of writing.

  6. If you could be a superhero, who would you choose? Moon Knight purely for the drip

  7. What other information or upcoming projects would you like to share with the audience?! I’m releasing a song every two weeks for 2024 and I would love more folks to follow the journey and keep me accountable. I just put a new tune out this past Friday!
